AWS removal.....can I take the solenoid out?

I removed my AWS this weekend. For the pipe, I used a block-off plate for from 2751engineering.com. They have 2 plates listed for the AWS system, and I only used one. Is the 2nd plate for removing the solenoid? If I remove the solenoid, I've read I will get a CEL, or throw a code at the least. Would a 330ohm 1/2w resistor in the harness work without any issues? And what did you guys use to plug the hole on the stock elbow? Does anyone know where I could get a block-off plate to remove the thermowax stuff on the TB?

I'd also like to fill the holes left in the UIM from taking out the double throttle. Does anyone see a problem with using JB weld, and sanding it down?

I'm also considering moving the Intake air temp sensor to the elbow. I would need to extend the wires correct?

I just removed my double throttle by drill and tap for a 3/8 hole. Seal it and there are no problems.

I thought that was just a rumor that it threw a code once you removed the solenoid. Most people have said they've removed both with no trouble. I just removed both of mine, and am still working on getting everything back together. I't could be a while, I'll keep posted with how mine turns out.

JB weld will work just fine. Heck I know engine builders using JB to close off the intake ports on the side plates when going peripheral port. If it's good enough for that application then it's more than adiquate for the intake manifold.

Those codes don't trigger the actual dash light. But if you check your stored codes, they will be there. There are many codes that don't trigger the dash CEL, but still get recorded and stored.

Can the inlet to the AWS valve be capped. I replaced the stock elbow for a Greddy and bought a 5/8" rubber cap at Pepboys for the AWS. I haven't started the car yet, but will this be OK.

The rubber cap could be used for your elbow Aharada. It is pretty durable and just needs a zip tie or the original hose clamp to secure it on.
