If your willing to change the input shaft (big job),bellhousing and tailshaft housing(easy job)it will work.

The core guts of the tranny are very similar, but no one's ever tried the swap that I know of. Not only are the bellhousing/tailhousing going to be different, but the tranny sensors are quite different, and the TII has a cable driven speedometer instead of electronic. Basically it isn't going to be worth it. Not to mention good used trannies aren't that hard to find or pricey, especially for a TII.

But, if you can get it for a good deal, you can probably sell the FD tranny for more, especially if it's in good shape.

If 3rd gear is your only problem, try some better gear oil - good gear oil can fix a lot of synchro problems.
