Has anyone in the DFW area done the koyo radiator install on their FD or any other FD, I am thinking I would like to buy the koyo over the fluidyne but I have heard the fitment issues on the koyo are kind of a pain in the ***, so can anyone who has done this please explain your experience with the install thank you very much

you may get better results if you post in the 3rd gen forum... just cuz youre in DFW doesnt mean you have to talk to DFW ppl about it....

I recently put one in. I'm assuming your putting it in stock position. Its basically drop in- the only thing was I trimmed some plastic on the front passanger side, and a bracket on the same side.
There's writeups available, do a search on "koyo install" in the "3rd gen + 3rd gen archive" sections.

Its a shame to have to put this radiator in at an angle, being all polished and everything.

I did it by myself with a bunch of Kmart tools and in a apartment complex parking garage...

There is a site that has the step by step install and also the issue of flipping the brackets to get it to sit better.

With that being said, I had some fitment issues as all my stock stuff sat much higher.

Also, once I installed the rx7fashion CAI, it rubbed on the outlet or is it inlet pipe...

Told you before and I'll say it again FLUIDYNE BABY!!!

Real "DROP IN", NO modifications, NO fitment issues and does not make ANY other component sit higher.

Plus it cools just as well, if not better due to better quality construction and desing(I made that up).

I just did it 2 weeks ago. It was a total PITA!!!! If you are stock, like I am, the intercooler & intercooler duct will not fit properly. You have 1 of 2 options. 1 use spacers to remount the intercooler, and trim the plastic of the duct, quite a bit, and everything will sit higher and at a funny looking angle. Or 2 (what I did) refuse to take no for an answer, and dremmel away a bit of metal from the engine bay, and remove one of the AC condensor brackets (it's obvious which one) to get it to sit low enough to fit mostly normal. In hindsight, I would have got the fluidyne, even though it's not as good and more expensive, to me it would have been worth it. You CANNOT, and I repeat, CANNOT, just flip the brackets upside down and put the radiator in and have all the stock stuff fit correctly, anyone who says you can is a LIAR. If you flip the brackets, the radiator will sit a good 2-3 inches higher, and nothing (stock) will fit back in correctly.

My Mazda service did mine and when asked whether it was difficult they said it was EASY. Bending a bracked shouldnt be considered tough to do considering all other harder stuff you need to do to your car.

And its the same service that couldn't locate my fuel filter...
