another fuel smell question
my car at idle smells of fuel really bad. from the exaust. is this normal. i dont have a cat. didnt know if that was normal. also when i start it i let it warm up for about 5 minutes and there is no smoke. if i drive then shut it off to go in a store and come back out when i start it then it smokes and smells of fuel really bad. i have a turbo timer so the car runs for 130 before it shuts off. what does this sound like? only smokes when i shut it of for a short period of time.

yeah, the smell at idle is normal, especially if you don't have a cat. rotaries run rich.
could be a bad o-ring leaking coolant into combustion chamber and when you crank it back up, it burns out, or could be leaking injector leaking gas into engine then when you crank it again it smells of fuel.
