All of a sudden

This has happened to me a few times as of late -

I will be under wide open throttle and all of a sudden my car just bogs down and the tach just drops down real low. If you have ever been in a car with a real rev limiter and actualy hit it you will now what I am talking about. Except I am not hitting the rev limit, this happens much earlier at 5k-6k rpms. At first I thought I popped the motor but it runs fine, nothing funny going on at all. Is this some sort of safety feture thats being triggered like the knock/retard or something? I have a PFC tunned by SR motorsports.

Thanks

My Subaru did this to me when the ignition wires wore out, at nighttime you could see blue arcs of electricity along the wires.

Could also be fouled plugs?

If I'm not mistaken, the stock rev limiter cuts spark. I could be wrong, I've heard other people refer to it as 'fuel cut' but I would think you'd be better to run rich (no spark) than lean (no fuel).

Dont start a thread with the title "all of a sudden" learn to make a summary of problem as thread like "Help: Car bogging at WOT" ect.. just a lil tip.. Onto your problem if you think its your knock check your commander and see what figure its giving for knock but I can guarentee you thats not it.. clogged fuel filter is my first guess..

Well.....I had something similar happen when I would hit fuel-cut, but that was a little different, it was almost like I'd shut the ignition switch off....it was that sudden of a loss of power.

when you hit fuelcut at wot the car will kinda sputter though.. My guess still stands on your fuel filter.. And if you havent changed it within the last 15k miles youve own the car, go ahead and do it now..If you just bought the car, change it now also. Too many rotarys die because of some maintence issue.

This doesn't happen everytime I floor the pedal, I would say maybe 1 out 10 times. It is a sudden loss of power, almost like the enigine had brakes, the tach drops down even faster than it would if you just took your foot off the gas. I had plugs and wires changed 6 months ago and have maybe put on 1,500 miles since. I was scared it might be my fuel filter so I changed that a few days ago, but then it happened again tonight.

Godzilla-T78 - thanks for the tip

Do you have a commander? If so check the knock on it and see if that could be it.. I hightly doubt it.. Did you take your car to sr to have it tuned or did they send it to you tuned... If they sent it tuned.. Thats probably the problem.. SR is pretty shady with things.. Every car is different and the entire thing of them tuning it for your mods is very inaccurate..

yeah i have the commander, they sent it tuned for those mods. I checked some of the settings and they definately did make some changes to the base map, unless the base map is tuned for 13psi. I suspect the PFC as well. A few months ago I noticed I was getting pretty high injector duties under WOT so I turned the boost setting on the commander down to 11psi until I get some cash for a fuel system upgrade. I did nothing else with any other settings, just the boost.

What I am most concerned with is am I flirting with diaster or just dealing with a minor annoyance?

Id find someone who can tune your car properly. Most likely they just loaded the upgraded base map which allows you to run boltons... You may also have an injector sticking.. When you run high injector duties they tend to over heat causing them to stick open or closed..
