Air seperator box help and 5th gear???
hey guys its me again, so the other day im installing my greddy hard piping kit and all of a sudden a hose to the air seperator box literally cracks off, couldnt put it bak on so i had to remove the box and re route the hose so i can stop all the antifreeze from leaking, my surgery was a success and i been driving around normal with no air sepaerator box and no leaks.. needless to say im not really driving hard, and the car runs fine...but am i doing any damage to da car without that little box????? also 5th gear grinds when i shift, i think its a synchro but not really sure... yes the gear stays put and doesnt pop out.... any help would be much appreciated again!! thnx again guys......

First off, it's an air separator tank (AST). Ditching the stock AST is a must-do mod, either getting an aftermarket aluminum one or doing a proper elimination. This topic has been covered VERY heavily in depth, hit up the FAQ. There's no evidence either way that eliminating the AST will cause cooling problems, but it has to be done right.
If you have a hacked-together cooling system, fix it NOW. The FD is not a car you can get away with hacks and duct tape. Overheat the motor, and you're looking at a new motor.
The 5th gear synchro has also been covered in depth - Mazda updated some parts in the tranny to make it harder to mis-shift into 5th and strengthened the synchro material. The parts are fairly reasonable, but you'll probably need a tranny shop to do the work - most people aren't very handy inside a tranny. Not to mention the tranny will need to come out to do the repair.
