Air Pump Greddy pulley kit

hi, ive had my air pump disconnected for a while now as it doesn't work, so ive removed the pump and belt today. as im awaiting the 2 piece greddy pulley kit conversion but im left with a pipe that would of connected to the back of the air pump. do i need to block this pipe off now? not sure what it is for? as the pictures ive seen with twin turbos which have removed there air pump this pipe is not visible?

ill get pictures tomorrow after work to explain a little better, im hesitant about removing the hole air con system as ive now read some threads about doing this you can fall you smog test (how do rx7 owners with single turbo conversions pass them?)

any help on this work be great, and give me something to read whilst im at work bored shitless on a Sunday and not working on my rex

cheers Lee

I have no AC, PS or smog pump AND its a single tubo......

I haven't taken her in for emissions yet but .....
1) If you drive less then 5k a year you're exempt from emissions in PA (atleast where I live) or
2) 1993 only requires a "visual" test where I am - EGR, Cat and I think 1 other thing..... no tailpipe test and not computer hook up.

SO I don't think I'll have a problem.....I feel for the people in Cali

First of all, the hose you're referring to runs to the ACV, then ultimately supplies air to the main cat. If you remove you air pump, you will not pass your emissions test. If you remove your air pump, cap that hard line leading from the air pump.

As far your question about people running single turbos, most cannot pass the smog test, numbers-wise and definately not a visual inspection.

Also, before you go to all the trouble of removing the air pump because it doesn't work, check the A/C fuse in the black box near the battery. The air pump is hooked to that fuse, and it is common for it to blow, thus making it appear to not work.

You can always hook the air pump back up for testing. Here's the problem, most people who remove the air pump have their ACV go bad prematurely. You can still bypass the ACV and hook up the air pump directly to the cat.

A lot of the single owners don't have to worry about emissions (depending on what state they live in.) You can usually find a lot of crooked emissions testers that will pass you for an under-the-table fee.
