Aftermarket Oil Temp: Where to tap

I've got an Autometer Oil Temp gauge (mechanical) and I was wondering if there is any company that makes an Oil Temp Adapter like this for FD's. And if not where are people tapping into to get oil temps.
BTW I've done the search and I haven't come up with anything geared precisely to my question. Help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

try the greddy oil filter block adator. thats the one i use.

A mechanical oil temp gauge sounds like a really bad idea. That means that your oil is coming into the car to the gauge. It will certainly cool off before getting to the gauge. If your line fails, you could wind up with oil all over the place inside your car.

The absolute easist place to put an oil temp sensor is the oil drain plug. VDO makes a sender that is a direct replacement for the oil drain plug. No drilling or tapping. Just remove the old drain plug when you change your oil, and put in the new one. A female spade connector snaps right on. The VDO sender may not work properly with another manufacturers gauge.

Id shy away from the mechanical gauge also for the same reasons adam stated.
Both locations are good but at the oil filter would be after the oil cooler and the oil pan drain sensor is before the oil cooler. I dont know how much temp difference there would be or if it really matters but just keep in mind

i use the same gauge, and got the racingbeat adapter, works great.

you can spend like $20 more with greddy and get a filter relocation kit with stainless lines and all and it has taps on both the base and where the filter connects

You can drill and easily tap the banjo bolt going into the lower outlet on the oil filter plate. This is oil going out of the engine and down to the first oil cooler(only if touring) this way you have the Hottest temps you'll see. You can use the drain plug with the adapter but it will be awfully close to the ground should you bottom the car out, plus you'll have cooler residual oil in the pan keeping the incoming hot turbo oil cooler. Either is fine however, I use the Banjo fitting since it's very close to the cockpit(easier routing for wires ) and because that's where Cam at Pettit suggested I put the sensor for road racing.
