Is the ACT S/S Clutch Disk a stock clutch disk?

Right now I have a HD ACT pressure plate and an ACT 6 puck unsprung clutch disk. I want to get rid of the ACT 6 puck and run the ACT S/S organic clutch disk. At one time i thought that i read something about the stock mazda and ACT S/S clutch disk being the exact same piece. Can anyone verify this? Also i would like to run a lightened flywheel with this combo, any recommendations on a good lightened flywheel with a replaceable friction surface?

racing beat is probably the best place for the flywheel.

If you decide to go with the S/S disk. I might have one for for sale (new / no miles).

there are 3 discs available for the ACT HD PP. Usually kits come with the OEM disc. You will have to request or special order the S/S disc.

the act disc that comes w the HD or S/S pressure plate is made by Daikin and is the oem mazda disc. it works well to about 410 rwhp if not drag raced. any more hp than that, or drag racing, and you'll need something else...

i am currently running the recently released XACT Prolite flywheel. its 9.9lbs compared to racingbeats 9.5lbs. and the XACT flywheel is made of Chrome-Moly Steel which is stronger than the aluminum racing beats is made of. here is the link to my thread with pictures of the clutch and flywheel.

the Xact doesn't have the replaceable surface, though. It is a nice flywheel nonetheless.

The HD or heavy duty refers to the pressure plate and is not the same thing as S/S or street strip which refers to the disc. THis is why people think they got a good deal since it's cheaper. A street/strip kit will have the letters HDSS.

There are three disc choices:
1. Stock OEM disc (OO)
2. Modified Disc (MM)
3. Perfoemance street disc (SS)

I'm running the ACT s/s with the racing beat flywheel and I love it. They work great.
