hi guy!!! need help for the 5 speed conversion!!!!
here's the problem i need to know.plaese help!!!!
i got the auto 93 rx-7 but the engine just not running at all,and i try to buy
a 5 speed engine with 5 speed tranny and ask my friend make it to 5speed fd3s!!!!
1.do i need a 5 speed engine wiring harness? or can i use the auto one?
2.do i need the 5 speed LSD? or i can use the auto one?
1. You can use the auto one if you like. You would have to do some minor adjustments. I wouldn't choose this route unless you know what you're doing. So, just get a 5-speed harness. Search
2. First of all, you would need a new manual driveshaft. The manual driveshaft does not mate up to the automatic differential. It could if you are willing to drill some holes. My advice, get a 5-speed differential and companion flange. Search
3. Not real sure here, however, I know it deals with wiring. Search
If you use the search feature, it makes things a whole lot easier. This has been discussed in the forums many times over. I'm sure a moderator or somebody else will say the exact same thing.
quick question.Lets say for instance you convert the fd from a auto to a manuall tranny. What do you do when your engine goes boom and you want to get a mazda remanned engine? do you tell them its an auto engine or a manuall engine ? I need some solid info on this. And what is your reasoning behind your answer.be as detailed as possible.thanx guys
Just get a new manual one. A manual tranny will bolt to the back of both the manual engine and the auto one. But an auto will only mount to an auto engine. It has to do with the bolt holes on the bell housings. The engines are identical except for the back plates.
I remember reading about using the auto counterweight in the auto to 5 speed swap. What of this? will you need to swap to a 5 speed counterweight when you change engines from a auto engine to a 5 speed engine?
There is no MT counterweight, it has a flywheel. When people go to a lightened flywheel then they use the auto's counterweight. Stock flywheel needs no counterweight.
