2 weird problems... 1995 Auto

Sup guys... its been awhile since I've been up here.... cars been running great with the exception of a couple weird, intermittent problems.... I'm bringing my car into the shop for a tune-up and scheduled maintenance at the end of the month and want to be educated about these problems so I don't look like a fool. anyways...

1995 Auto

Problem 1:

car won't start sometimes. it almost is like the battery is absolutely dead or something... but if I wait a bit or give it a few more turns it starts no problem and I'm happily on my way.

this SEEMS to occur only when it is really freaking hot out and doesn't happen all the time. it has maybe happened 5 times in the last couple months and never happened before that.

Problem 2:

this one is really weird and kinda freaks me out, but has only happened twice to me. after starting the rex.. the engine is started but my oil and temp lights are on and both needles are in their starting positions. it's almost as if their still in "AC mode." When this has happened, I just turn off the car and turn it back on and all's back to normal.

Any takers? Thanks in advance guys. SH

For your first problem. When you turn the key do you hear a click but the engine won't turn over? Then after turning the key a few more times the engine starts turning over? If so, this is a common problem among AT FD's. If you fix it, then it will just come back again. I've never heard of any permanent solution to this.

I don't know what to say about problem number two.

There was a Recall/TSB on Problem 1 which doesn't really solve the problem. Supposedly it's caused by heat soak increasing the resistance on the ground wire in the starters harness. The TSB replaced that harness but people have said that the problem returned. I'm not too familiar with your Problem 2, but it sounds like you could have a weak battery/alternator or your underdriving your accesories too much.
