Question poll for average fd owner age

it was mentioned in another thread that a poll was taken in 2001 of 1000 fd owners and about half were under 30. im just curious to see how that has shifted over the last 16 years.

BC 30-40 take early lead with 1 % or poles reporting!

55% of vote so far. Or maybe the young ones have to get up early to work?

BC Parrallel Poll

Can you put up a concurrent poll gauging "plans to sell". I.e.

within year
within two years
Within 5 years
No plans to sell

Or anticipated sales price........

BC Interesting Polls

Lots of interesting polls to see if you search polls. In 2003, 57% of respondents believed they could sell their FD for $18,000 plus.

What would that figures be today?

I just turned 29 and plan on keeping my FD for the long term. I'd get out of it if I happened on a cleaner example for cheap to swap into or swap body parts over from since I have a '94.

I got my first FD when I was 21 I believe. Loan from the bank (never doing that again) Paid it off years later.

Sold it and bought another FD last year when I was 34

I think another reason why the pole is in the 30-40 range is most people have had their cars for a long time. But I could be assuming wrong

Yeah, I got my first one at 24, just bought my most recent one at age 31. Mine were bought and sold due to moving countries.

If the 30-40 range does end up being the most common, I wonder if it is because the younger people cannot afford them/aren't interested/limited availability of the cars, or if its because we are getting older and still have our cars?

Don't take this the wrong way (the poll is a great idea ), but the uneven age intervals will be skewing the data.

the 20-29 yr olds are split into two categories here, maybe we can change to:

20-29
30-39
40-49
50-59
60-69 etc?

Regardless, lots of interesting discussion - thanks guys!

i'll admit i screwed up the age brackets. i couldnt edit it after i submitted it. the purpose is still being met though. the point was to find out how many fd owners there were above and below 30. so there may be 4 options but theres really only 2 if that makes sense. also, the people that have owned their cars for a while dont really skew the data. the second purpose was to see how old CURRENT owners are. so if you got the car in your 20s and are now in your 30s then you count as a 30+ owner.

BC Young Again

Again, it is very interesting that in 2001, half the voters (700+) were 25 years old or younger. The cars were still under 10 years old. I wonder where they were in the price cycle? They started off comparatively expensive, but seemed to have fallen into the affordability range for "first cars", at least from an ownership point of view.

It looks like the average age of that group might have been 22. That would make them 38 now. About where the current survey is trending.

Yup!!! Could be that anyone under 30 thinks that anyone over 50 might as well be on their death bed.

I'm fairly new to the rotary lifestyle. I was 28 when I got my FD. I'm currently 30 and plan on keeping her for a long long time.
