NC sold 16k in 2006 and it also came out in July so hopefully the ND will do even better.
The 1000s special edition red cars are sold/spoken for so that's a start.
The August #s will say a lot. Fingers crossed

August #s are not bad but also NOT GOOD. Next test will be 2016 #s. Will it out sell the NC which sold 16k in 2006. Fingers crossed but not holding my breath.
Would love to see it sell 30k or so units and then I think there would be strong hope for another RX7 My prediction though is 10k or less US sales in 2016 or in other words it's a flop Had they given this car some *****/power with a stiffer susp etc.... I think it had a chance but as is it's just another neutered miata.

Guess which car was the slowest this year at the lighting lap (16 mx5 3.21) and which one was the slowest ever at the lighting lap (06 mx5 3.29) What's really sad is they tested a 2015 honda fit for giggles and the 06 miata time was just 8 seconds faster. For those that don't know the track is 4.1 miles long LOL
The 1st sentence of the review: "Think of mazda's affable roadster as Snuggle, the giggling fabric-softener bear, in the form of a sports car."

What's not bad is the new z06
The miata is well a miata and I guess that's the only benchmark that those in the miata world care about.
Meanwhile other makes and models are moving right along and SELLING!!!!!
What's your prediction on miata sales? Even 15k units would suck.

If we go by the sales average of YTD 5128 units, that is 641 x 12 = 7692 total for the year.
Now, that really sucks bad.
With approaching Winter, I think the sales for a convertible will slow down.
I don't think it will go higher than 8K units.
Like Fritz, I wish this car sells big, but I have no hope now.

I swung by Malloy earlier in the summer to grab some parts from Ray and he mentioned that they really weren't moving many of the NDs. I looked around and they were all Auto's, I sure as hell wouldn't buy an AUTOMATIC Miata!!
That being said, if my financial situation were improved (or does improve) by this time next year, I'd ABSOLUTELY consider buying an ND as a fun DD
Hell, there's a 95% chance I'll be living back in town Fritz, if I end up getting one you'd be more than welcome to snag it for a week to make a judgment base on more than just reported numbers ^_^
