if you plan a water alcohol mix just cruise on over to Home Depot and grab a gallon of paint thinner isopropyl alcohol (around 8-10$) and a gallon of distilled water and your cost is now $5/gallon.
check out the sticky thread at Turbobuick.com as to local methanol vendors... you should find methanol around $3 a gallon.

Good! got first place in SM2....after alittle help from DamonB.
Interestingly, I saw lower knock and AIT after each run. On the last run I notice my AIT was higher than the others
I thought I had something fail on the water injection...instead I must have accidently hit the on/off switch and turned it off!
On another note. Saw Steve today and did some street tuning. Seems something is wrong with the Profec B install as it wasn't letting us do anything with boost. However, the boost could be controlled with the PFC.
After tuning, car felt great, then we did some pulls with the water injection on. I think Steve said less knock but also almost a point higher on AFR! (I'm running 50/50 water methanol). I have the dual stage kit and Steve thinks the nozzle is too big and boggin the car. I'm going to order a smaller nozzle first and if that doesn't work, increase the psi that the secondary comes on at.
**you caught me searching the forum on the profec install!!! BTW, the 99 spec caliper height is around 44mm.

do you think the point higher on the AFR was because of the methanol being mixed in with the water? is it possible you could try a pull running straight water to verify? i'm just kinda curious, good to hear everything is working out pretty well tho congrats on the 1st place finish

addicted,
don't want to clutter Rich's thread. I will post a follow up to the tuning session I had with Steve.
But basically, after realizing how easy it was to turn off the WI and not know it....I realized it would be safer to NOT tune for WI, unless you have all of the fail safes in place.
With that being said, most FD owners have noticed a slight HP decrease on the dyno. I chose 50/50 because some suggested that that combo would not cause as much HP loss as you are adding fuel.
By the "butt" dyno, my initial stage one injector seems not to bog the car, and the AFR seemed to stay the same. Steve said the AFR looked the same until 10psi when my second stage comes in (larger injector). I'm hoping I can keep the same HP but reduce combustion temps and knock/chance of detonation.
After I sort out the profec issue, I'll have Steve do another tune and then do some pulls on the dyno to get numbers with and without the injection

ahhh ok so its not so much that your running the mix, its because of the AMOUNT of it being injected by having the second stage coming on at 10psi. gotcha, thanks for the quick reply i'll look for your other thread for more updates

back from the dead Rich, but i think it should,
I installed mine on my previous race car and saw huge difference. I have installed it on my rx7 but havent yet run it (im using the coolingmist not the aquamist) and i was kinda wondering for the numbers
Good and helpful Thread

99.x% pure methanol can be found through biodiesel suppliers as well. I lost all of my bookmarks so I can't get you any links, but it might be easier to get it from them than a speed shop or race track.
