I have been waiting for someone to ask this, I'm posting just to see if anyone chimes in with details. I have considered contacting a shop owner in an ASA group in my area. He may know of someone, but he is tricky to get ahold of.

I use a local shop. Usually costs around $60 for an alternator.

+1 for the local shop. I use to rebuild alternators and the FC alternator is very simple.

To increase the output of the alternator all you have to do is use the high windining stator and rotor from a compatible alternator.

Some rebuild shops can make a high output version, but it greatly depends on what they have in their "stock".

Just ask around and see what prices they charge.

I ended up ordering a high amp alt from bnr alternator/starter hopefully it works. they said it makes 70amp at idle and 180 amp at 1200rpm. considering my idle is at 1200rpm it should work lol.
