Hey, I have a problem but i think I may have just answered my own question... ha....
my car runs like a champ, but today i got home from school and this white smoke starts billowing out from under the hood. I heard some sizzling and popped it to see a cloud of smoke. Now, it looked like there was some fluids around there that leaked out (which is the conclusion i just now came to, it looked like coolant). I haven't had any problem associated with it, just the smoke. It is on the left side of the engine, a little bit below it. Are there any coolant lines (or any kind of other fluid) running around there that may have sprung a leak? Anyone else had this happen???

Some peoples vision of left and right side of the car are much different. If your speaking correctly your talking about the drivers side of the engine, and theres two major possibilities. I'm assuming that you own an n/a so you have your BAC and cold start lines all in that area on the upper intake that could be leaking or it could be the infamous heater hose leak. take a closer look while the system has pressure, dont let the car overheat whatever you do.

lol i've had the some problem 2days before!

But i've gut about ~3liters of coolant on the block! much much smoke =)

if you stand in front of your car, go to the right side... now look on your motor!

theres going a line from the middle of the motor behind the motor and into your car! this is the line for your heating system! mine was cracked

If your refering to the left side of the engine from the front of the car, and you have a TII then its your coolant o-rings. One runs through the lower intake manifold, and the other is blocked off by the manifold itself (s4). The manifold is what seals the one jacket, and provides a passthrough for the other, o-rings that are inbetween the intake and housing are what seals the deal. If they're fucked, then you'll have coolant dripping onto the exhaust manifold or if the car is warmed up, it could steam out or spew, whatever. Is that what your experiencing?

Now that I have looked at it, it is a hose right behind the engine (between it and the firewall). It looks it goes from somewhere on top to somewhere on bottom... Looks like a pain in the *** trying to replace... Could something other than the hose be the problem..?

i had a smilar problem but it was the fuel line that runs from the lower fuel rail to the upper fuel rail, it had sprung a leak and was running down and dripping onto the header

Same thing happened to me, the heater core line gave way while I was on the freeway and caused a slight overheat. Luckilly my seals were fine and I repaired it across the street from a Kraegan I used to live close by. It was the only place I could drift to once I got off the freeway.

Done & done. It was a coolant leak from some painintheasstogetto hose. I highly recommend taking off the stock clamps for all the hoses whenever you replace them and put those ones with the screws in... I would have saved at least an hour or two if that kind was on there originally..

I hate that effing hose. That one got me, too. Twice.
