transmission mount question
So I finally got to get my car on the lift for some suspension upgrades and found a broken motor mount. Then looked at the transmission cross-member and 1 of the bolts was barley screwed in. So put it back in and noticed there's a gap between the cross-member center I guess the y mount piece. Looks like a 1" gap. Didn't get good close up as these pics were from day before we noticed it. We thought there should be a bushing in there but no evidence of that. Cant really tell off the fsm or when i looked at the pic on the mazdatrix site. Anyone have a better picture or input would be appriciated. ty

you need better pics of your situation.
This shows a trans mount with a Grommet on the crossmember for the "pin" of that Y piece to sit into.

Yeah figured I can see what Im talking about just hard to describ without close ups. Is that grommet fixed to the crossmember or can you buy it from somewhere. I held that picture up to it yesterday and i think it was still there but maybe its not. Im pretty sure the gap is between that grommet and the round piece with a nut on it that you can see on my picture. All that should be tight imo. no gaps in between you know what I mean?

That grommet is not available seperately as a stock part.
Your "new" trans mount comes with it pressed in.
NOW,there is an alternative which is "somewhere in the SEC GEN Tech or archive section" where a solution was found.
I just read too much and sorry, that Info slipped out of my memory bank..bee-bop....wopp.....Errorrrr...warning.. Overload!...lol!

the side pieces hold the trans up, you need those, the grommet is for side to side movement

Ok thanks for the replies, i think the side pieces were there. When my shocks n springs n motor mount come ill get better pictures to confirm everything is how it should be.

they go bad. they sag, and then it breaks the bushing in the middle. proper fix is just to replace everything, but you really need the side bits.
