TPS unplugged...Car runs BETTER..why?

As stated above.... after a round of mods... TB mod, rets nest removal, BAC ACV and EGR block offs... the car was a bear to start, now it hesitates so badly it feels like 1/4 power 99% of the time. I unplugged the TPS for adjusting and the car smoothed out and ran almost perfect, save a burp and a hiccup at 2800 and 4000........ several other people have found this problem, when i searched, but no fix was ever suggested? anyone else have this problem?

I have this problem as well. My narrow range tps is broken, so i leave it unplugged until I can find another one to replace it.

By narrow range, you mean the one that bolts to the front of the UIM? the black box with the black cylinder that presses in.... if yes, i did replace it with a used one that was known to work. It didnt solve the problem.....

after you remove that stuff you will have to set the throttle stop screw to control idle, and therefor adjust the tps so it is reading correctly also. FC3SPRO.COM has a write up.

Throttle stop screw as in the idle screw on top of the UIM?

As in put the BAC back on the engine and set the idle per the FSM.

after the TB mod and rats nest removal. i had to adjust my TPS and idle. you'll have to find a happy medium, b/c you wont have the idle and TPS reading that you used to.

my care idles around ~900rpm with it reading .920k now. i guess that's the best itl'll do.

how was your TPS before the TBmod??

dont take this the wrong way, "if i unplug the tps the car runs better" do you think you might have a bad tps?! seeing how a bad tps is a very common problem... change your tps holy ****

my turbo car runs better with it unplugged.

my na did the same thing, any load and it would stall. unplugged tps, went away. came back a day later, plugged it back in, ran fine. then acted up again, so i just adjusted it till the idle stopped bouncing and now its good.

IT was fine... worked perfectly, using a DMM anyway, i set it to 100 and found no dead spots....

yeah you'd think so huh, but like i said, i tried a different TPS i got from a friend... who said it worked fine...(yes thats an ASSUMPTION) . and the car suffered the same symptoms when plugged in... besides, although weird **** does happen, have you ever heard of a TPS deciding it wanted to die in a matter of hours.... specifically the hours it took me to do the work? too weird

so you had the hesitations, so you unplugged it... then they came back.. unplugged? and you plugged it back in..?.... and then you adjusted the idle ect... with it plugged in or unplugged? im curious

strange... sorry for the attitude, i was un aware of the attempt of a different tps.. thats wierd.. i would say try another.. his is probably silly to. you would be amazed how many fc's there are around with bad tps sensors and the owners have no idea

Hey no sweat..... yeah, i was thinking about getting a brand new one.... but thats lotsa bucks! does anyone know of a better way of ensuring their operabilty? other than using a DMM......
