mutilated dash...

well, its time for me to whine, bitch, and complain.

Yes, I know you get what you pay for and I should have expected a problem like this.

But seriously... how the HELL does someone **** up a dash so badly? I mean seriously... if an interior part is not wanting to move, YOU GAWN BREAK SUMFIN BRUTHA!

This dash is in terrible shape. Not to mention its going to be a bitch for me to find another one closeby. Repair is a possible pathway, but I'll need another donor dash to cut and hack away at so I can fiberglass and epoxy the large chunks that are missing.

oh well, at least I can normally find pretty good deals on most anything. Maybe I'll find a dash somewhere nearby.

Huh?

Have you looked in the parts for sale forum? A lot of people part cars out, and generally dashboards don't seem to be in terribly high demand.

No, its the beige plastic under the vinyl. THAT stuff is cracked. A dash cover won't help me at all.

Right. Go find someone parting out a similar car. Obtain parts.

ABS cement from home depot glues it back together just fine

large chunks of it are missing (4 in by 4 in or so) and some bolts/tabs go into these. some parts rattle around due to not being secured well. Any ideas on how to repair that? I know abs cement alone won't do that. But thanks for the tip on fixing the cracks. I've been using epoxy.

Actually for large chunks missing get some black ABS sheet (also at home depot) and trim to fit anyway you want, then glue it in/on with the ABS cement. Drill as needed when dry and you are set.

You will want to avoid epoxy, as it will not bond/melt the plastic together like ABS cement will

fc3s.org is selling generic replacement dashes- but you gotta drill holes for all your sh*t. Probably easier to glue the old one back together.

Try getting a hold of some 410 Locktite epoxy. That stuff works wonders.
