Mazda OEM part numbers???

Does anyone have anyway of taking a Mazda part number and telling me what it is? I just got my car, and was looking in the glove box, and found a little baggie from Mazda. It had two small parts in it. One of them is a gasket part number 0303-17-474. and the other part, which may or may not belong in this bag, is a round rubber grommet looking thingy. Any help would be cool.

0303-17-474 costs 1.20 thru Mazda Comp, still doesn't give me a noun name though

Mazda has 88 in stock.

hmmm. thanks very much for the tip. I'm leaking a bit of oil from under the oil filter, and it looks like there is some sort of removable flange onder there, I was just wondering if maybe the previous owner was meaning to replace it.

mazda part numbers explained. quickly.
first four = original application, ie fa01 is 81-85 rx7, n3a1 is fd engine etc etc
next two = sytem of car; ie 15 is cooling, 13 is intake, 17 is manual transmission
next three = what is is; 15-205 is a radiator cap, 61-211 is a heater hose, 51-070 is headlighty
letter = if the part has ever been revised, n304-10-100 and n304-10-100c, 100c is the new part number c theoretically = better but sometimes its a vendor or price change too
next 2, vendor or color code. 9u means they went to kragen, fb01-64-350a-48 is blue fb01-64-350a-00 is black

FL Mazda numbers

Hi Mike,
I have on starter motor PYFL Mazda number and Mitsubishi # M000TD5671ZC, see photo of starter sticker. Is the PYFL a unique Mazda number only for this one starter motor or there can be more different other starter motor units involved with same number? What woudl be the full starter motor Mazda number? Do you have a cheat sheet with explenation of Mazda numbers you can share? Thank you

the Mooo number is the Mitsubishi electric number, as you may have guessed.

this one is easy, 18 is engine electrical, and 400 is a starter, and it just happens that PYFL-18-400 comes up as a part number. It is not always this easy

They are using P for the Sky-active gas engines, the 2.0 is PE, the 2.5 is PY, and this one, PYFL fits a turbo 2.5, so like 2016+ Cx9, and the 18+ Cx5 and 6 turbos

Thank you Mike! You are a walking library How do you know all that? If starters are 400 what woudl be a code for alternators? I could really use Mazda sheet with all these letters/numbers meaning explanation sometimes. Is it possible to downloaded somewhere? I could not find anything like that. Thank you

i don't know that there is a sheet, but when i started the catalog was on micro-fish and you had to know the de-codes for stuff (Ford calls them Base numbers, the aftermarket says part types), because it was super slow if you didn't.
even the early EPC (which was the easiest/quickest), worked well with decodes. Ive seen people be faster with the microfiche, Kevin could almost do it blindfolded. (Ralph knew where is was physically, and i would just remember the number, we all had our little tricks)

Engine electrical is section 18, so just about everything in there is an 18 something, and an Alternator is 18-300.
not the greatest example, but notice in Section 1800, the center digit is usually 18? The N326/N327 prefix refers to the engine, and not the chassis, but we're in an engine section. N3 is a 13B, N326 is an S4 manual, N327 is the automatic, if you have a choice.
