Installed rb exhaust, weird fluttering noise not exhaust leak
Just installed the rb REV TII exhaust system. The quality is amazing and easily the #1 exhaust system for the rx7. Its not loud cruising down the highway, the idle is just a bit louder then stock, beautifuly loud at WOT. I installed all factory doughnuts and downpipe-turbo gasket. The turbo gasket was good. After the installation, we checked for exhaust leaks and it was perfect with flying colours. Even went for a couple pulls and got some video material, soon to be ready.
Next day, I drive to work and at 3800rpm-4200rpm im getting a fluttering noise. I sort of crossed out an exhaust leak as the culprit because if it was an exhaust leak technically it would get louder as the rpms go up no?
I'll make a thread in a couple days about the exhaust including a sound clip of the exhaust.

I got a little more information. The whine so to speak doesn't happen in 1st gear or reving. Every other gear it happens. I double checked all the bolts on the exhaust and its all snug. Not an exhaust leak. I'm leaning over to having a vacuum leak?

I'm having a similiar problem with my RB setup. I'm getting the sqeaking noise at idle. Sometimes it's not there
So I put a little bit of grease on the rubber doughnuts. Seems to have quieted it down. I also noticed how one of the hangers on the passenger side muffler was really close to gas tank.
This morning I noticed the noise again Anybody else have any solutions with the RB setup?

Yup, I tightened the bolts up again the next day. Considering everything is new except for the turbo downpipe gasket, I might just replace that. The leak or whatever it's sounds like its coming from the front. The precilencer was tight as hell though and so is the downpipe.

dude all wrong, NEVER NEVER reuse a gasket even if it say its ok to re use it, i ditch the stock rubber hangers as well with all aftermarket exhausts, they have stainless braided strips the you use in place of rubber hangers, that can be sized to fit.
reusing any gasket once its been set is just plain stupid, also a thing to consider if the same gasket keeps leaking of blowing, your flange is tweaked, and needs to be shaved straight to insure its surface al the way across or the same problem will just keep happening

They are plenty of metallic/ceramic composites gaskets that are completely reusable, including the stock Turbo gaskets. Your single opinion contrasts the recommendations of hundreds of automotive product manufacturers, engineers, and racing teams.
The stock paper gaskets are completely reusable if initially installed correctly: ensure the mating surfaces are completely clean and true, and then lubricate the new paper gaskets with synthetic grease. I've pressure-tested reused gaskets to 50 psi without leaks.
If you don't know, don't post.

Could you describe the rest of your set-up? Emissions/ air pump, etc?

So, i've been reading up on boost creep and I think I found an error in my upgrades. I read that your supposed to upgrade exhaust, intake, and wastegate all at the same time to counter creep. I have exhaust and wastegate but no intake. So, I need a K&N cone. I'm almost sure i'm experiencing boost creep, either that or vac leaks. If the sound still persists after checking for vac leaks, then intake is next before I get rims.

If the engineers who design the part and the application and test the material say its OK, and the manufacturers marketting and warrantying the product say its ok, and the users of the product test it to find its ok... why is it not OK? Honestly, tell me, why would you replace an intake gasket when the re-used one holds over twice the pressure the engine will ever see without leaking?
I have personally watched 5-second drag teams reuse their head gaskets... but then again, you know better than them?
Ever removed your rad cap and then put it back on?... that's a rubber sealing gasket. What about your oil drain plug? That's a plastic or aluminum sealing gasket.
If you're having so many problems with sealing, maybe you should spend the money to fix the problem than on buying new gaskets.
Here's 3 quick links to reusable gaskets.

Yup, racing beat fuel cut controller, ported wastegate, no air pump, i believe some emissions is removed but not sure.
