could someone walk out to their garage and pop the hood and throw a tape measure on the strut tops on their fc, shock tip to shock tip, i would be very much grateful

looking for stock set ups, no camber plates. im trying to dial in the tops on my fb and the struts im using may require me to do some cutting and welding to make them work

if you're asking if the FC vs FB strut top bolt pattern is different the answer is yes

thats not what im asking, im asking for the width on the fc so i can get my camber right

Just about 40 3/4" (plus/minus 1/8").

You're welcome.
Be aware (if you aren't already) that the top strut mounts are not symmetrical and have a "home" orientation in the four bolt holes. Rotating the mount changes the geometry, I assume the strut hole is not equidistant from the studs.
This is why I left a fudge factor for you (mine are set to stock location- white dot inside and forward, BTW).

i was aware of all that stuff, but i'm not using FC struts. I'm making my own.

just needed a ball park to make sure i'm not going to be crazy positive camber. some more negative camber will be welcome, and i may need to get camber plates to get that final adjustment i need.

as a side question if your FC is stock, if you have a chance to, would you be able to put an angle finder on the bottom of the lower A arm (or what ever it's called) and let me know what it reads at ride height.
