Question help with towing rx7 with tow bars

ok everyone, i am going on sunday to deleware to maybe pick up an 86 gxl for a project car, and i am hoping i can tow it home with a set of tow bars. has anyone towed an rx7 with a set? any tips? where can i get a set? my friend has one that is solid triangle, and if i need to use this, i need to know how far apart the tow hooks are on an 86 rx7(if there are any) any insight you can give me is greatly appreciated. i really want to avoid having to pay $$$ to rent a tow dolly from uhaul. thanks in advance.

I think you'd be wise to rent a dolly. Probably only $50 for the day. You'd spend time and money trying to adapt a tow bar to an RX-7. Can't clip hooks to bumper, and with the low front, frame well hidden.
At least with the tow dolly, you'd have lights. With a tow bar you'd need to splice into the vehicle lighting system.

i agree with Turbonut. I was gonna rent one last week to tow my 87TII to a muffler shop but the Uhaul guy told me that it wont work. Those tow bars are only made for those older cars with the metal bumpers. Ubviously there is no way to hook those bars into out cars.

Hmmm... well, it CAN be done. I towed a parts car home with one. It took about 1.5 hours to get it ready- you have to pull the front bumper cover off, pull the bumper, and bolt it to the mounts for the bumper.

ohh ok, ive never been under an rx7, i know my crx has 2 tow hooks that hang below the front cross member, and you can ancor the bars to that, but if its that much trouble ill just get a tow dolly. thanks all.

No really I agree with the dolly idea a lot less of a hassel and lower risk on dammage to the vehicle. I think the CRX should go though, the RX-7 might beat it up when they are together and nobody likes to see weaping Hondas. On second thought leave the two together and video tape the fighting hehe j/k.
