mazda 3 piece seals strike again!

perfect example of why i say not to dump a bunch of money into a car until you diagnose it

strange it appears the engine was recently rebuilt too, though.

What makes you say it was recently rebuilt? I suspected that from some of the gasket mating surfaces and uses of sealant, but did not expect the 3 piece apes seals because of that. Currently, it wont be in the budget to have it professionally rebuild, plus I want to do it myself anyway. What do you think is my best bet for finding a rotor and housing?

the rotor isn't extremely carboned, the exhaust port is clean and the coolant channels aren't corroded.

Ah, ok , I thought it was weird that the coolant channels are so clean. These pics are are from after a bit of cleanup, but I guess the apex grooves were out of tolerance.

I'll probably get flamed for this but, some Goopy oversized seals, filing off the boogers from the broken seal, and filing out the grooves for the new oversized seals and you could probably run that rotor if the rest of it is in spec. It looks as if the corner seal might be pinched though.

Nah, She's dickered, the seal that broke in the first place folded over and put a nice deep bevel on one side of the groove. Ill get a pic of that when I get home. Plus I Imagine that gouge would create some nice heat concentrations.
