Well, you might remember last week i was having problems with my driver's rear brake caliper sticking. I fixed that, it needed to be lubed up (sliders)

Well, i've had a problem on my passenger side caliper for about 6 months or so. and i've tried everything, and i can't figure out what's wrong with it...

I'll be cruising about 40-50.. (acctually doesnt matter what speed)

and when i step on the brakes (lightly, or hard pressing) i get a ticking/clicking noise from my brake area... it has to be the brakes, cause it's only when i press the pedal.. At first i thought it was the pad's moving around.. well, nope, i installed new anti rattle springs, and i still get the noise, it's so Annoying too. Any idea's what this could be?

anyone have a clue on Mazda brakes? and what causes them to click/tick like my caliper/brake assembly is?

Try taking off one wheel and turn your rotors and listen for where the clicking comes from.

Just a shot in the dark but does your rims have balancing weights on the inside? (It maybe that - I know I had to get mine re-balanced moving the weights.

CHECK that **** quick! And well. my Old 87 N/A snapped 2 Brake Caliper bolts from normal driving, and had the exact same symptoms you describe. I have heard of other people snapping brake caliper bolts also .. inspect those well, I am willing to bet thats the prob.

But you did put your pad retaning springs back in when you changed your brake pads right?

i snapped bolts too.....and i have put frickin caliper after caliper and three different hubs and i still get noise out of mine...............slap slap click slap slap click click clcik slap groan slip click...helll i even had my caliperbolt snap on the freeway and hit the inside of my rim and lock the wheel up at 75 miles an hour....so what causes these bolts to break???

damn, i guess i should get it checked out than. what does cause the bolt to break?

Is the bolt causing the click/ticking noise? it's so annoying.. only when i press brake pedal

Important question for everyone- do you have the four piston caliper or the single?
I have the four piston and it clicks when I touch the brake pedal. I think it may be uneven movement from the pistons which makes the pad tweak and bind a little on the pins. When there is enough force the pad 'pops' free of the bind. Maybe.

Any caliper that has a seized piston (single) or multiple seized pistons is twisting/tweaking and all that uneven force may be causing bolt failure.

Also, when I replaced my discs, I noticed a little plate that fits between the caliper mounting ear and the spindle. Since there was only one, it meant my caliper was not parallel with the disc.

Yep you only hear the noise when you are breaking ... but as far as getting it checked out; just pull the wheel off on the noisy one and you can tell just by looking at it if yu have a snapped bolt, but check it soon, cause i'm almost sure thats your culprit.

yeah i am only hearing it in the rear brake (single piston) it's a terribly annoying and loud click.tap.tick.click noise when i press the pedal, i can feel it in my foot also (pedal vibrates)

all this after 1100$$ brake job from Just Brake's.

Does "Just Brakes" have a warranty? I had a problem similar to this on a single piston BMW brake. It was not the caliper bolts, but a suspension bolt that the brake caliper/hub assembly hung from. It had loosened over time. I couldn't find it forever, finally was just pushing/pulling on hub and another person was looking for the movement, they could see the bolt moving in it's hole but it was obscured from the position I was in while I was levering the hub/caliper assembly.

Good luck and tighten all those caliper bolts to torque specs!

if it were a bolt from the suspension would it make noise all the time?

this is only when the pedal is pressed. I've been back to Just brakes several times, for brake problems, they told me my car is too old to warrenty.. WHen the back of the paper said 50,000 prorated warrenty IN one of my previous threads i talked about taking legal action. but that's a huge mess.

I will check all the bolts.

I just remembered something else. The ends of the pads (the iron backing) are very close to the top and bottom of the caliper, my car also had some 'burrs' in the caliper that could cause the pads to hang up. Make sure those areas are clean and smooth.
