I am in wa state. and I have never seen e-85 out here.. we do have an "AMPM" that puts Methanol in the gas. buts its 10%. its like a filler IMO. like less cheese. and more cardboard. but thats me. not sure what e-85 would do to my car.

Good luck trying to run E85 on a car not modifyed with larger injectors.

I keep hoping one of these gas thieves will siphon out of my gas tank and put it in his car.

A RX tank filled with e85 requires larger injectors. Say you have a turbo car with 550's. You'll need to put 720's in their place and then have some way to add/subtract the fuel injection amount. Like a RTEK2.1 or the like. Or if you have a non turbo you'd need at least 550's and some way to add/subtract fuel to make it run decently.

I don't recommend E85. Too hard to find a station that has it imho.

Theres a thread on here where someone put e85 in to clean out the fuel system and destroyed most of the system, theres a reason theres flex fuel vehicles they're designed to run on e85. RX7s are not, high concentrations of it will damage fuel system components.

shouldn't be, it's just a power hog with the cat in place. i probably lose a good 50 horsepower dropping it down to or below 300 with it on there.

Smile Im BACK!

So I see alot of people have been posting on my thread and I still wish the thread name to be changed to "Passing the SMOG TEST! made simple."

Using Ethanol in our systems for a prolong period of time is not good that is why I wrote in my first posts to FILL UP WITH GAS RIGHT AWAY to avoid any possible damage. It can withstand a small amount of ethanol but not large concentrations like 50% or higher that I used to pass smog.

Also why the sudden return? Because I have to smog my car once again! Damn its already been two years huh? This time I had a friend at a smog shop practice run my 7 and get some measurements before the actual test when I would be using Denatured alcohol/ethanol in my tank and boy are the numbers HORRIBLE! Well here I go. These are the lowest numbers I got using regular gasoline with all stock parts and timing except for ECU upgrade, no precats, cuz mine were gutted anyway, and Stock header with 2.5inch pipe all the way to cat then 3inch piping all the way to muffler. Single exhaust set up. And yes my car is loud as F***.

15 mph
HC CO CO2 NO
571 1.0 0.0 454
25mph
HC CO CO2 NO
156 Forgot the rest but was just slightly better in all fields.

So obviously with these numbers it would fail HORRIBLY. there is no other way to put it. BUT these numbers are better then the last time I did a pretest or practice run. The only good thing is my NO is passing but of course when doing tinkering and stuff to lower everything else, the NO will rise like a balance. So I will not touch that because running Ethanol will take care of those high numbers for me.

I will soon post my passing numbers after I go smog my car very soon.

ACV huh? For Air Control Valve right, ill look into it. Ive never tried to mess with Emissions equipment so i have no idea where that is. If its not working anything i can do to fix it or should I just go find one and replace it?

P.S. OH WAIT! Is it the thing on the drivers side of the engine located on the upper intake manifold? I just happened to find one at pick and pull that looks all clean and new. guess ill try popping that on, cant hurt. last resort ill just do the alcohol trick again.

P.P.S. A bad ACV would explain why my idle is always struggling to to go back down, along with searching for idle sometimes.

I used straight E85 in three RX for three plus years and never had any failure whatsoever. I'd suggest whoever had "problems" that those 'problems" were from something other than E85. Like no fuel controller to add/subtract fuel and using undersized fuel injectors for E85. Use E85 and you automatically need larger fuel injectors i.e if you had 460's you now need 550's and if you have stk 550's you need to get 720's PLUS the abiliity to add/subtract fuel along with a wideband 02 controller/sensor to monitor the fuel afr.

I abandoned E85 when my cars were/now are over 25yrs old and don't need a sniff test anymore, just visual. I had to drive ten plus miles to fill up with E85. Toooo inconvienient for my taste. Turned my RTEK2,0 iinjector selection back to show what is actually in the engine to convert back to gasoline. Simple switch back to gasoline without changing the injectors again.
