Can I use a Summit Racing Multi Spark Ignition Box?
I've got a 88 Turbo engine in my car and I'm wondering if I can use a Summit Racing Multi Spark Ignition Box (part number SUM-850610) instead of a Jacobs or MSD box. I had a FC1000 on my old 12A and loved it but I think it finally died on me because when I connected it to a 12A today it didn't work. So I'm looking to buy something new for the 13B and I'd like some suggestions. I've got a spare Summit Racing CDI box but I've heard you can't use it with a Distributorless Ignition System. But I don't see where its any different then the FC1000 or the MSD box I know people use. I don't these things don't help a lot but I noticed my old engine ran a little smoother with it. As always, thanks for your input. BTW the car is running great (beat a Toyota GT86 yesterday) so thanks again to everyone for their help.

I bought a parts car and it had 2 of these Summit Racing boxes on it, so I figured why not lol. I like to mess with stuff. I actually just called Summit and they said the boxes will work with anything that has a Coil and a Tach/Trigger Wire, in case anyone else needs to know this. Thanks for the reply.

Why not post on the PART Page on SUMMIT?
They allow you to ask question on the specific usage of that product?
Besides if that box has an "In and out" for power then by rights you should be able to use it.That is if the hook ups are pretty well the same as the MSD box.
It is a simple hook up for leading coils only.

leading only, perhaps, since the FC uses 3 ignition circuits. leading does all the work anyways and with the waste spark system any CDI will improve the efficiency of the powerful FC coils, that are weakened by the waste spark setup.
any CDI that doesn't overheat due to the reduced dwell of the FC leading ignition that is... since it does fire twice per crank revolution after all, so at 8k it is trying to produce 270 pulses per second.
