bendable exhaust pipe

i have a quick question. at pep boys her they sell exhaust pipes that are same thickness and feel like exahust pipe and come in about 5 foot long pieces. and cost about 12 bucks a piece. they are some rings in them that makes it bendable to a certain piont. you have to use a pry bar or something thick to make the pipe bend. has anyone ever used these? im not talking about those small ones that advance carriers that break easily im talking about regular pipe and can be bend manually. just wanted to know if they hold up. im just giong to use them from the Y pipe back to the mufflers. so basicaly two small pieces just so i can get the angel right and done have to fab up multiple pieces. please let me know as i will be starting this project tonight.

i think i should be fine cause it s in the back and i will paint the pipe after bending it in teh right way so it doesnt rust. but i wanted to make sure it would hold up to the heat. pep boys is the only place i have seen these things at.

What is wrong with used tubing that is already bent. I mean to say, why not find the sections you need from the junk yard?? OR why not try the muffler shop?? They may be as cheap so what your going to spend at Pep Boys.

Paint won't last. the heat will cook it right off.

well at the moment i have Apexi style mufflers and all i no loner want constant loud sound. so im going back to mufflers. the bends are differnt.
im not going to a shop cause they will charge for the pipes. plus i have to work around there schedule and i want them just right. usually shops slap them on and id rather me puthem on and make sure they are straight and the way i want it .

these pipes will work as long as they dont burn through after a few months or so. they have hight temp paint at jegs that will stand up to 2000 degress so i will be fine.

i built my whole exhaust system after the cat with these types of pipes. i bought straight sections and 2 bent sections and welded everything together with my welder to a straight through muffler. the exhaust duznt have that nice deep tone to it that a normal aftermarket cat-back has but hey, it was dirt cheap!!!! and everything is holding together just fine ever since spring last year. the exhaust is barely rusting.

but, i plan on replacing those 2 bends this summer with mandrel bends from a pipe bending shop. each of these bends can be made for about 10-20 dollars.

thanks ill prob use those then. give it a shot anyways. using those will be easier to get the right fit and agle i want. no guessing and re doing bends. i know its about 10-20 bucks per bend at a shop but you still have to mess with finding time and working around their hours. and i deff dont want to leave the car there.

ill give it a shot and we will see.

im going with two Cherrybomb turbo 2 mufflers. they are soppose to be quite at idle and loud at full throttle. hope thats true cause thats what i want. the are some what straight through but still have a muffler affect not like my cans i have now that are fully straight through apexi style mufflers. they are loud at all times.

"I feel so bad for your poor car"

why do you say that ?

it will have nice flowing bends, and free flowing at it too. i have 2.5 all the way from the downpipe all the way back. i just got tired of loud N1 style cans. going to put mufflers on now to make more bareable at normal cruising. only have on cat and thats a hight flow V8 one.

so im not sure how your feeling bad for my car. not only will both sides lock equal it will stil have dueal exhaust and nice tips. and a nice sound when its soppose to sound mean.

the mufflers i am using arent the red ones that are on trucks or V8 cars, the ones i have are actually mufflers. i have asked sever individual how they sound and if they will stand up to hight heat. i was told by all of them the same thing. nice quiete at idle and at WOT it will sound mean. and they stand up to heat.

Don't worry about it.... I felt bad for my car when I was broke and didn't know how weld stainless steel..

I really hate that bendable exhaust pipe... I'm suprised the other guys is still holding up... If you get the stainless steel stuff, it isn't so bad, but the mild steel stuff is horrid

yea its not the stainless steel type. i have a welder and up to this point have welded pieces together but i hate having to spent the time welding when i can get a smother tube going and all i have to do is put some elbow grease into it and bend the pipe. my main concern was that they will decay fast . i guess we will see. if things go bad i will post on here and sellte things one and for all about those pipes.

i had the cheap stuff that is like the same stuff but made of that thin cheap stuff i think its only soppose to be used for temporary repair. and that stuff didnt last to long. maybe two months.

but these pipes above are thicker just like normal exhaust pipe.

i dont realy want to go cheap. but it will hold up the same way then why not go this route. it will have the same affect.
