I have a passenger side wheel that has play when pushed/pulled while the car is up on jack stands. It's been my exp that this denotes a worn wheel bearing. I understand these are replaceable by drilling out the race and punching out the bearing.

I also read the following FAQ on the FC3s.org webpage written by dave gibson. Could someone explain to me the symptoms of a bad wheel bearing vs. a loose wheel bearing?

For some random reasons, the bearings tend to end up loose. The way to check this is to do what's suggested in the fc3s.org guide - if you tighten the big nut and there's still play, then it's time to replace the bearings. Otherwise, just smile and enjoy the improved handling.

They both have roughly the same symptoms - loose wheels. Now, if you're hearing grinding or whirring, it might be a good time to think about replacing the bearings, but I'm betting tightening it up will reduce the slop to nothing.

While you're in there, it's a good time to repack the bearings, or at least add a bunch of fresh grease. It took me maybe half an hour to check & tighten both sides - not a big deal at all, and they were both quite loose.

Yeah Greasing the bearings is no problem, I have to swap all the pads and rotors so I'll see if it's loose when I do this.
