tuscanidream's fc3s build: rotary-works v-mount kit review
#102
Pulleys lined up if you didn't use any of the included spacers. Some people claim theres does not line up no matter what they did- and had to make custom spacers. Some people also claimed that the holes were drilled off center. My set looked to be center, but I never actually measured.
I decided to switch to an fd alternator. I would have to drill out the alternator pulley to 17mm. Not a big deal for me. Rotary Works does offer 14mm or 17mm, I just didn't plan on 17mm at the time. However, with the fd alternator, the belts they send with these kits are too small! It barely fits on with the fc alternator. FD alternator is a tiny bit different and can not twist as low as the fc alternator. Pulley sits maybe an inch higher?
I figured finding a belt would be too much of a pain in the ***. Rotary-works is the worst company ever. Don't buy from them. You will regret it.
I'll take a current picture of my engine later today. Currently it sits, waiting for me to get more funds. Fuel system is almost done. Longest build ever!

Dropped off the oil filler tube, water pump pulley, main eshaft pulley, and short coolant tube for the turbo at a new powder coating place down the street. I'm going with the chrome like powder. I figured I can't go wrong with that vs choosing a color and later changing my mind. I hate that my car is red. I wish it were black or white.
Should be a few days and then I will receive these parts back, and hopefully drop off more parts to be done. I was thinking about also doing the lim, uim, tb, and water pump housing.

Not really. This project is taking me a long time due to my low income budget. I hope to drop more things off at the power coater soon. I've contemplated just ordering gaskets and putting it in the car as is, but i dont think that will make me happy. idk. I've started building a mame arcade machine too.

Small update. More items powder coated chrome. Gaskets started going on. I forgot to order a few gaskets and crush washers. Having a shitty time making the stainless steel fuel lines from frozenboost. Might order line from another company. Waste gate ported. Electronics mounted in car.
The turbonetics t3 heat shield I purchased wasn't even close to fitting. I returned it. The stock heat shields are in rough shape, and the mounting bolts snapped right off. Debating wether I should take turbo and manifold to machine shop and get bolts removed, and refurbish the heat shields, or maybe try a ptp turbo blanket? I don't know.
