Can't say I've ever seen such a thing on a FC.
Seems kinda pointless...what is the advantage?

Putting a cage in mine and seeing if retaining function of the top is possible.

If not, then something like this would be a nice alternative.

They keep you in the shade on grid/on track while still allowing good airflow.

I have also seen people use parasols on grid. If you feel that is a bit unmanly you can have an umbrella girl to hold your parasol for you.

Did you ever find anything? I know project G does them for miatas - I'm not sure if they would be able to be modified to fit or not?
I really like the idea of them for keeping the sun off the seats/harnesses.
