Intake heatshield problem

so I wedged in a heatshield for my new build. I am doing light cruising and idling mostly with my new haltech setup. When I touched the intake manifold, it was burning hot. Ambient is around 50-60*F, so I think it's because the heatshield is now acting as a conductor rather than a shield... the shield is touching the exhaust and the manifold. It's made of SS on exhaust side and I covered the exposed insulation on the backside with aluminum tapes. Is there something I can use as heat shield that will hug the UIM tightly, not directly conduct heat, and be an effective shield for my application?
