Just pulled my RX-7 1984 out of winter storage, put in new battery; started right up.
Problem: a warning buzzer is going off all the time - its pretty loud and is impossible to stay in the driver seat.
Warmed it up but no change.

What is it and how do I fix it?

Could it be the buzzer for the seatbelt by any chance? That thing is annoying and loud.

it can be your door light buzzer mine were buzzing for long time until my friend solve that problem

My 85 GSL goes through a similar scenario when stored for an extended period. In my case, the engine over-rev buzzer will come on when I crank it up. Usually, it goes off after the engine warms up and/or after it has been driven a couple of times within a frequent time period. I think the electrical connections in the later FB's are sensitive to inactivity but tend to perform well with use.

Short term fix;

Look down in front of the battery for a little black box bolted to the front wall. It will have a plug going into the bottom of it. Pull the plug and the noise should stop.

Did you by any chance clean the engine bay recently? This happens to mine whenever it gets wet...

thats weird. i don't have a buzzer for door ajar or seatbelt. but the rev buzzer works just fine

Make sure you have enough coolant, theres a loud buzzer if your running low...

Yeah, but he didn't mention that he had an idiot light on his dash for low coolant level.

If you pull the plug on the oscillator as I said above, you will still have the dash lights to warn you of an issue, but you won't have the alarm. Mine does this whenever I clean the engine bay. I don't think it's the oscillator itself, but rather one of the sensors or a connection that gets wet. It sometimes happens in wet weather too. Now I just leave it unplugged all the time without any issues. Hope this helps...

It's funny. I've NEVER seen a 1st gen that had a buzzer for low coolant, oil level, oil pressure, or otherwise... I think the oscilators are prone to going bad.

Seatbelt/Door open with key in works fine and Over-Rev DEFINATELY works here.

My uncle had a buzzer go off with a constant buzzing. He took the car to Mazdatrix mechanics and ended up being some kind of warning to get a tune-up. Apperently after so many miles or something like that. Might be it?

I get that buzzer whenever is cold and the car is cold also, but
like Goldfinger said, it will go away after the engine warms up.

Is this thread dead? Because I have the same problem and i can't figure it out. I pulled the oscillator, what was in the place everyone directed me to anyway and the problem did not go away. I there any other component that can cause this buzzer to go apeshit like this?

My loud obnoxious buzzer I had going off was the idiot light for the exhaust. I haven't started it since then because my header fell apart when I tried to remove the cats. So, I guess my problem is fixed. Lol.

I never did get around to putting that RB exhaust on.

I can't wait to try and take that header off.

Hmmm, I guess I'm fortunate in the fact that the original owner removed ALL the buzzers from my car. . . .
