Cool Straitup D's classic 83 Rebuild

no its not mine its my homies, but it looks like some of you hare have/had some of these odd things in the past.

the car is a 1983 mazda RX7 GXL i would give it 8.5 / 10 stars she is clean leather and NO RUST AT ALL

so two weeks ago he sold his supra ( the one that i was going to get ** linke goes here**) and some other things to get a new motor for his 83 rx7 that has been down since 05 and will be back on the streets. so with his loot that he got from selling some old **** he found a running but undrivable ( rust / old ) but the moror was sopost to have been rebuilt not long ago he plans on picking that up this next sat

well on mondays we have our guys nights so they can git away from there wives/GF's. so we took some parts off the car had a few beers and one of the guys, it was his first night out there, he was all **** it man lets pull that thing out!!. not but an hr later he is on one side and i am on the other and we pulled it out

we where all amazed to get it out and so we tore it down till we found out that we did not have a big enough wrench to pull the block apart but oh well, we are one step closer to getting that classic back on the road.

ill get some more pics of this "Dusty Robot" this monday when i am over there, they will be up by like 3-5 am that night

and i will be updating this thread weekly

haahah aa i kinda forgot that i had an account on here, but thought that you all might enjoy this Re/Build

yup, we did not get **** done last night

but last week we pulled the motor and stripped it down to the bare block. seeing a small roadblock that there are 2 small ports on the exhaust side that are not on the '83 motor. a quick call to racing beat to see what there flanges are like we will not have any problums with the exhaust. so all of the gaskits are going to be getting picked up next week and this project will be on hold until after deer season

and more pic's cuz pics are fun !!!!!!

thurmal reactor (sp) what the **** look at all of the ports that come out of the manifold !?!?!?!? :zoiks:

and the motors are made in Hiroshima japan
[

its hard to see but only 58K on the car

motor from the 83 (blowen) see the exhaust ports, only the 2 larger ones

see the two extra holes next to the other ones, that was our small hold up

Those 2 small ports are for the TR system. If using an RB header, they will be blocked. The RB headers are all designed in a fashion that allows for those ports to be covered.

good looking out man, my buddy called RB and they said that they only had one flange for all of the years so he was kinda like **** it, it should be fine

Yeah, there "one flange fits all" is correct. It was first designed for the early 12A and 13B, which used those ports. The 81 and newer engines didn't have the TR ports, but the flange still worked, so they didn't bother to redesign it. Kinda "Don't fix what ain't broke" thinking. I like that.
