Oil Cooler Removal

How's it going:

Me again.....my 1985 GSL has an oil leak on the oil cooler (it is the one that has the oil cooler below the oil filter) or somewhere in that area. Spent a few hours today trying to find a way of removing the whole assembly to see where the leak is coming from.....Only one thing couldn't figure a way of removing the stupid thing without contemplating removing the freakin engine......exagerating a little but seriously didn't figure it out.....HELP....

i think u mean the oil heater.

there should be 2 bolts holding it from under the cooler? and then another 2 holding the stand to the engine. well i think anyways, its been a while since i took one of them off

Theres 2 10mm nuts holding it on from teh underside and a 12mm bolt holding it up top. Remove these as well as the 23mm banjo bolt attaching the line to it and off it comes.

Don't forget to have plenty of rags handy to clean up the oil and coolant mess!

I think I have a spare if your interested in a replacement, I also have the aluminum non-cooler if your interested in converting to an air/oil cooler setup.

yes, the air oil cooler found on all but the 83-85 (non SE) cars is far superior to that beehive piece of ****. And yes, be sure to have rags aplenty, its a messy *** job.
