AZ Nikki Accelerator Pump Weights

Currently working through a rebuild of my nikki that one of the prior owners attempted to rebuild or something along those lines. I have pulled out all of the jets and air bleeds to clean them (mostly plugged), cleaned the screens/banjo bolts for the feed and return lines, and your typical carburetor cleaner in the various passages and fuel bowls to clean out the tasty gas residue. Standard/Hygrade rebuild kit is in the mail headed my way and I should have it this weekend.

However, I was cleaning out the AP inlet and nozzles and noticed there was no weight in the inlet side, and what looks to be the tip of a air bleed that was cut off (mine are all intact) lodged under the outlet nozzle that was jamming the check ball in the closed position. Had to take some angled tweezers small enough to get down in there to loosen it up to get it out, but it at least came out.

Does anyone have pictures of the exact weights that came out of the AP inlet and nozzles? #71 and #74 on the parts diagram below. It does not look like the rebuild kit comes with them unless the potato quality pictures just do not show them.

Is it possible to get replacements for these, or modify something to work instead?

You could mod something to work. I've taken the little brass pin from a new needle and seat kit (they are useless - do not install them in your carb as all aftermarket seats are machined incorrectly an lead to instant flooding). Cut off the head and use it as a weight on the inlet checkball. As for the outlet weight, I have never needed to make anything as I've had a good supply. Hmm...

I was wondering if it had to be anything specific weight wise, or just something heavy enough to hold the check ball. They may have been what they did with the piece that i found, but it was too small and got turned sideways and wedged in place whereas the other one was just missing...

Edit: Its a stock Nikki off an 85 that has had all the emissions/choke (except alt comp) removed/plugged. Vacuum Secondaries are still intact.

Picture of the "weight" that was lodged under the nozzle. Hard to tell in the picture, but the smaller end of it has those tell tale sign that it was cut with some angled wire cutters.

That looks like the top of a pin from a needle.

Thinking of just getting some brass rod from the hardware store and making my own weights. Do you have an idea of the dimensions for the factory weights? Any reason why this might be not the best idea?

I'm sure it could work. I'll have to get back to you on the dimensions.

Thank you for the measurements, Jeff.

Got my rebuild kit in the mail, and I am glad it came with check *****. There was still a check ball for the outlet nozzle and the remaining piece of the brass needle sitting in the AP inlet without a check ball.

I'll post some pictures of my replacement weights as soon as I finish them.

Woops. I forgot to post the completed weights. Not sure how many people will ever need this but here it is.

The measurements that Jeff20B gave me are:
1.98mm x 7.3mm AP inlet weight
4.5mm x 5.02mm AP outlet weight.

I went ahead and bought some solid brass rod from the local hardware store that was as close to the correct diameter as i could get. My drill press became an impromptu lathe and i went to work. looks like i didn't take a final picture of them both, but i finished them off with some fine sand paper to make sure they were smooth but not quite polished.
