It HAS to go...NOW.

Ok, so you pretty much know the saga I've gone through with this car... and I've listed it in the FS section, but didn't get any bites.

I need money so I can put down on a car I can DRIVE everyday. My RX-7 is completely set up and ready to CRUSH the competitors at autoX, and most road racing events. It's 90% rust free, and the interior is 90% complete, and is in mint condition, aside from the smoke smell. It even has the original floormats.

There's 279,000 on it, and the motor that's in it has no carb or intake on it, and the fuel pump is gone too. The motor itself lost all compression in the rear rotor, and needs to be replaced/rebuilt.

No, I can't get a title for it... it's being sold as a almost finished track car, or use it for parts. It's got almost $7,000 into it, and well over a year of build time. The wheels alone are worth $3100.

2500 takes everything. It's ready for a new home.

well with no title, I would say you might not sell it.

See, with out a title there is no proof that the car would be mine. I could be out racing it at the track and have someone say, "Hey, that's my car!" Then they could get the police involved only for me to loose a car that I can not prove is mine.
I have two great body rx7's right now with no titles that I am afraid to put money into for a track car since I don't really own it.

In GA it is easy to get a title if you live in a non emissions county.

The only way someone could say that t's their car, is if the previous owner is resurrected from the grave, transported to TN, and then she'd have to try to match the VINs.

The executor of the estate hated her boyfriend, who I got the car from, and they won't sign over a title. One has to be "created" for it... if you want to put it on the street.

There are ways to file for a title in Washington, I did it with my 83 when I got it. It was left on a guys private junk yard, and the owner moved away basically abandoning the car. It was given to me for free, but the owner of the junk yard had no title. I worked with the Department Of Licensing to get the title for it since the owner had no interest in it anymore (I cant remember the official term). The DOL said I had to send a certified letter along with a special form to the last known address of the owner (verified by the DOL), and when it was returned unopened (which I knew it would be), I took it back to the DOL and they issued a temp title for the car in my name. The title basically said the car was mine unless/until the "real" owner reclaimed it, and he had a year to do so. After the year was up, I went back to the DOL, and got the REAL title for it, so the car still has a clean title, and is officially mine under all circumstances. There might be a way to do that in your case as well, or whatever state the car goes to. Just check with the DOL.

I really hate to break it to you, but a non running 1st gen isn't worth near $2500. If you want to get some cash, you need to part it out. And forget about getting $3000 for the wheels. Appraised value and market value are two seperate things.

There's WELL over $7,000 in parts alone on it...

For a complete car, 2500 is NOTHING... granted, it doesn't have a title, nor does it run... and it needs paint. But if someone can find a use for all of the parts to put onto their RUNNING 7, then they'd have one of the most track-capable cars around, and they could do what they wanted with the shell. I'm tired of looking at it, and I need a running car.... bottom line.

Sorry, Chef man, but I've told you time and again, you will not get that much for a non running car.

If I were to buy a non running car, it would have to have ALL parts intact, as well as GOOD PAINT. Otherwise, they are usually given away free (at least around here).

To pay 2500 for a non running car, the motor would STILL have to have at least fair compression, it would have to have a problem somewhere else.

Chef, friend, we can get a similar condition running GSL for that price.

As much as I hate to tell a fellow rotorhead this, I have to

I know it sucks to hear it man, but I have to agree..... You will never get back out of it what you put into it, not even close. Nonrunning, needs paint, incomplete interior, missing parts, 280K miles on it, and most of all NO TITLE.....

Sorry Chef...

i hate to see it come to this chef. ive seen all of your ups and downs with this car. if your still looking for a motor ive come across 1 that i know of thats good(and possibly another) let me know if your interested. if your going to sell it or part it out i would be interested in some of the parts.

and like some of the others said your almost never going to get your money back out of a project car. i have a 79 trans-am that i invested over 2500 into and cant sell for 800 because of blown headgasket (that im not going to fix cause im tired of f*#king with the d@mn thing)

I got an 83GS free, running, just needed timing, bang out a few dings and new paint: fine car. Got an 85SE free, running good, needed new tires, new paint and water seal treatment: fine car.

You're asking too much: there's no one thing so good (interior, exterior, engine, etc) that a guy would invest in the other things.

Thought this was interesting, I found this pic on CarDomain, those wheels look kinda familiar, although not the same.
