looking for opinions from you guys.

I have recently been given two opportunities to purchase or trade for an fb gslse, or an sa22c. Just wondering out of curiosity which you guys would rather have. Currently I have a heavily built clean fc running a weber carb setup from the guys at the rotary shack. Both of fbs are in immaculate condition each having less than 100k on the bodies. So looking at this from a collectable standpoint which would you guys prefer? The fc is a blast to rip around in but im looking for something I can hold on to for a while.

Im not too sure I need to take a look at it but its about a six hour drive. If you're familiar with Angel motorsports its one of their cars.

I'd go with the SA over the gslse those are every ware but I think your built FC would be worth a little more depending on how the SA is optioned and if it's a 79 or 80

I'll have to get a little more info on both and get back to you guys. That was my concern though because the fc has a decent amount of money dumped into it.

Im 100% for the SA. The gsl-se is a better daily though, and has more value. Making it a good trade for an FC.

Still, the 12a has a special place in my heart, and if its properly taken care of its nigh bulletproof. But then again, so is a GSL-SE.

If you just want a rare, fun and collectible car the SA is in my opinion a far more iconic version of the first gen Rx-7 than the GSLSE, which was basically a late model, hot rodded, luxury version.

What are your plans for the car? Driving it everyday or a toy?
Well I have a miata as a dd just finished a 1.8 swap in it. So the seven is probably going to sit on blocks in a storage unit. Probably only drive it to shows. I've been dailying the fc for about a year.

I'd do for the GSL-SE. If that gold 1980 was all that special it wouldn't be sitting in the back of a lot.

i don't know that either of those really are coolectable.

the SA is missing the correct wheels, and antenna, and that is just from that pic, there will be more.

the gsl-se is modded, nicely, it would be fun, but its not really collectable either

Bias to SA myself, but in the collector world (which RX7 feature pretty low) either the SE or the SA are probably the most desirable RX7, for opposing reasons. Simplicity of the original and its (subtle) iconic styling vs the toys and sophistication of the "final" 1st gen. SE.
For some the choice is easy because the styling differences will push you one way or the other.
As to THIS SA, presuming the gold one is the car, I would personally find the lack of sunroof a deal-breaker. And if the lack of body side moldings means this is a budget-version "S" model (the 4 spd tranny will confirm), then this is not the most desired SA to own. Again, my opinion.

Go for the SE. Im a sucker for white cars and Panasports! You can find a project SA dirt cheap. Like $500 or less whereas the SE will run at least $2500 for a decent one.

Lack of body molding could also mean either car or both were repainted. Devilish tricky to get molding off without paint issues.
