idle problem
ok few questions
one, i removed my blue nasty looking filter and put a nice chrome one on that shows the air filter, but now im having idling problems, it wont idle down after i let off the gas from driving it stays at 1500rpm, ive plugged the coast valve and idle compensator. i have adjusted the air mixer screw were it drops to 750 rpms and it stays running fine, once i start driving the car it stays up at 1500 rpms, unless i pull the choke out and release it then it will drop down to 750rpm. i have the dizzy hooked up the the second nipple on the carb from the front of the car back.
anyone have any idea on what could cause this problem, i have all emission unhooked but not removed its an 84 rx7 gsl with a 85 gs 12a motor in it 5 speed

Have you checked the operation of your choke? Since you say it drops to normal idle after you play with the choke pull it sounds like maybe its sticking closed slightly

One of the little hoses from the blue air cleaner, the one with the thermostat-looking gizmo inside the cleaner, is called an "Idle compensator." You need to plug that hose where it enters the ratsnest, else you have a nice vacuum leak, which raises your idle.
