GSLSE fuel pump installation
Hey
so i'm trying to change the fuel pump in my car. The old one just died... I pulled it out and it was some relic looking pump that had a VW insignia stamped on it. I guess the jury rigging job the guy before me did worked but the pump was loud and the other day made a different sort of operating noise which I immediately noticed and died two days later. Jumpered the connector near the MAF and got it to spin up with the key in on position. started sorta ran then died. Then I tried connecting direct battery power to the pump and it did nothing.
so to the point....
I'm trying to replace the pump with one I got from autozone: AIRTEX Part # E8000
My car is an 84 GSLSE.
other people on here say they've used them just fine so I figured why not, i need a car.
but when I'm trying to get it on there, I need to install the solid line from the old pump but, the banjo bolt on the solid line doesn't match the airtex pump. It's larger.... Am I missing something or did the guy before me do something weird? The other posts I've searched say that it's a straight fit.... :-/
Any help would be appreciated!
