how do I repair a 3/4 inch hole in the rear bumper cover? Can I use bondo? Or will it melt the plastic?

Right now the bumper cover is off.

hey thanks for that link. my front bumper has a hole to. i've tried using regular bondo but it just cracks.

Bondo is not for filling holes. Its for leveling and filling small imperfections, like dings or low spots. An actual hole is gonna need to be covered with something such as fiberglass.
However, I've never repaired a plastic bumper so I'm not even really sure how well fiberglass will do. Anyone with more experience than me is more than welcome to chime in.

^ it really depends what kind of bondo ur using.

The long strain fiberfill/bondo ish stuff works alright for alot of places then you smooth it out with bondo.

The two part epoxy does a great job on bumper and plastic, We use it all the time to weld ABS and repair Dash parts. Maybe use a patch peice from a parts cars and use the epoxy to put it in place, Fill if from the front and rear and then sand the front smooth.

there are probably different types of rubber bumpers. Products compatible for one kind of rubber won't be for another. Like epoxy surfboards verses polyurethane surfboards.

bondo rubber bumper repair was easy to work with, firmed up in 10 minutes, so it didn't deform like bondo body filler. sanded smooth

I 1st put some fiberglass on the back side , next day I filled in the indentation, day after than sanded smooth and painted.

now I removed the front bumper, it was much much easier than the rear. Whoever designed the front , designed it so you could get to the 2 nuts and 4 bolts holding it.

The head lamps look like they are begging to be fabricated so that they are like a dino ferrara's. That is designed to fit smoothly in to the body, no more bug eyes when the headlights are on.

Those headlights are talking to me, I swear!!

It looks like it would be easy to do, why hasn't someone else thought of this???

Go to a good auto paint store. There are 2-part repair products specifically made for urethane, which is what our fascias are made of. I used Duramax 4030 Flexible Bumper Cover Repair to remove the "bump strips" from my rear bumper (my front is fiberglass, so I used glass there). It's been 12 years now in climates from Texas to Michigan and it still looks good. It's not cheap, but it's really the only way to repair a urethane part, since the original material is so flexible and resistant to adhesion that nothing else will be a permanent fix.
