Just curious, why does everyone buy the engine stand adapters? Rotaries fit on my stand no problem without them. I had to slot one of the holes on it is all.

I use the arms that came with the stand. All four fit a 13B front iron perfectly. A 12A with the long T shaped beehive coolant pipe needed a little clearancing on the stand's "head" or whatever you call the part. The engines sit pretty well balanced and require little effort to turn them around for front cover, flywheel, oil pan installs. Makes me wonder why everyone buys the engine stand adapters too. I see no need for them.

To be totally honest, I just wanted the ease of the mounting process to be easier. My last engine tear down had a front cover with both A/C studs still on it. I was able to get one of them out, but the second one was being an absolute bear. I was able to bolt it up using just the bottom A/C stud and the top two bolts on the front iron, after squeezing the bottom A/C bolt into the straight part of the stand.

I'm very curious how you do this, do you have any pictures?

I just wanted the ease of a bolt-on solution to mounting the engines to the stand is all. Now that I know you can do the 12a beehive engines without it I'm second-guessing myself, thanks a lot!

Next on the list is a wideband (probably Innovate MTX-L since it's the most compatible with an Adaptronic ECU and I like the digital numerical readout with the mechanical-style rising gauge action it has going on), I'm working out my FMOC issue with a forum member right now who's being awesome (package was lost by USPS, sucky for both of us), downpipe and exhaust piping, FMIC with BOV, pieces to make a custom CAI, among many other things. I'll make a working list later when I'm feeling more awake.

Got the TII front yoke/FB driveshaft and the emissions block off plates home.

New toy today, gonna clean up some dirty old bolts for the fun of it. This will also be what I use to clean the bolts for my wheels since I'm too lazy to do it by hand.

Pretty cool picture, I really liked this one. The large flame is from the WD-40 that's been sitting in there for a while now.

Got the turd out! With the help of the new air compressor and the 1/2" Snap-On impact gun it wound right out. It wouldn't do it before being heated, good trick to learn!

My 3rd 12a torn down, making progress! Now I have no more engines to tear down around the house. I had to do this to free up space for the 13bt to finally come out of the back room.

Well that's a weird looking motor swap...compressed air! Got a 21gal instead of the 8gal I had for a few weeks. I can say I'm already very impressed with it and I'm glad I made the swap. I know 25gal is recommended for painting but I think I'll be alright with the 21. If not then I'll just swap my dad for his 30gal for a few weeks.

Next weekend is an SCCA auto-x event, so I swapped the street wheels for my Hoosier-wrapped SSRs. Wanted to take her out for some exercise, but family demands won out.

Not today, but last Wednesday, j9fd3s came over and we cobbled together the machined flanges and aluminum tubes into an intake manifold for the 13Bpp. We mocked it together and had a friend tack weld it for us. Now it's at a shop getting put together for real. After that, I'm thinking of getting it ceramic coated. Should help with the heat from the header, as you can see from the pics...the header is really close.

Last Sunday, I took her out to the SFR SCCA auto-x event. The car attracted a lot of attention, even though it wasn't even close to being the fastest out there. I managed a respectable time, but this will all change in the near future when the 12A comes out and the 13B goes in. On my second run, I had an interior malfunction, which I captured on my GoPro. I'll post this soon. On the last run, the car decided it wanted to be sideways exiting the timing lights. Got that on vid too, but not sure I want to post that. :P

Your projects are coming right along man! That PP engine should be an absolute riot when it's completed, no doubt about it. It'll be cool to compare your times between the 12a and the 13b-pp engines - make sure to post the data up here. I'm curious to know what an "interior malfunction" is...

That should be cool! You using a standard Nikki rebuild kit then I assume?

Yeah, $500 1/2" Snap-On impact from when I worked as an auto tech. Believe it or not, Harbor Freight tools work well enough to build almost any car. My last turbo swapped FB was built solely with HF tools and it's still running today. And my tool collection has just grown with only HF and Menard's tools since then.

The air compressor is actually a pretty solid unit - we've had the same compressor at my parent's house that sits outside and has worked well for over a year now. The main issue I have with it is starting it, when it's colder out she doesn't want to start very well. But once you fight with it a while she runs fine. I have no complaints so far!

Since it got up to almost 40 degrees Fahrenheit today (felt warm to me, I was out in a t-shirt today) I decided to pull the car out and clean the garage. I'm really glad that I decided to do so, it feels so much nicer in there with the floor clean and after using the compressor to dust the whole back end of the garage where the Bondo dust had been sitting. After the car came back in I put the body kit in the attic, so it feels much better in there.

Notice the cut off bar there, it's the upper Watts link since I was too lazy to deal with the rusted in bolts any more.

Yes it is a standard kit, I didnt know there was another kind.
Being impatient I Installed the yaw nikki carb and man does it have great throttle response, doesnt feel like the same power as the rb holley that was on it.
To me it felt like the rb holley has more power than the nikki, is that usual or unusual? Or should I be patient and wait to rebuild it tomorow and see if it runs better.
I did see on the radiator side primary bowl that fuel was pouring in the hole, so its obvious the float seat isnt seating.
We will see tomorow I guess, what do you all think?

Fungus Mungus forgot to mention the really neat part. we drew up the flanges, and 3d printed them in plastic to check the fit, and then had them cnc'd in aluminum.

the piece of wood is our engine mock up, btw

Temp got up into the low 50's today so I replaced the rear shocks. I had never done it on this FB and they were starting to make noises. Car has 153k miles and I had put 54k of those on it. I have the front strut cylinders but that is going to take more than a couple of hours to do. If it ends up nice again tomorrow I might work on the left front.

I got around to tuning the new larger venturis in the boost prepped Nikki. They're pretty good now. Easier to start, better low end torque and tip-in, not super rich at part throttle cruise anymore etc.

Just a small off idle glitch remains, probably caused by two things: the venturi size on a carb whose transition circuit was never meant for anything this large, and the float bowl fuel level being slightly lower than it should have been at only 2psi. I can deal with one of these easily (2.5 to 3psi) but the other would require stripping the carb back down to swap in some smaller venturis. However I've gotten rid of most of the glitch now just tuning things today, so I think I'll keep them. For now.

In case anyone is wondering, the primary venturi size I went to is 25.6mm. It turns out you really should never go larger than 24.9mm or .98" (according to Racing Beat) if you want less tuning headaches and less potential for glitches, even as small as they are. That's my public service announcement for the day.

Took her out for a spirited run today since the weather was fantastic. After about an hour and with no warning whatsoever, I totally lost my brakes! Brake pedal sank all the way to the floor with minimum resistance. Pumped the pedal a couple times and got some semblance of stopping power but it only lasted long enough to get me halfway back home. Crawled home in 1st and 2nd gear and had to use the hand brake in order to come to a complete and timely stop.
Brake fluid quality and level look good, brake lines are stainless steel braided (recent upgrade) and no leaks found anywhere😞 What do you guys think is the problem? Brake booster or master cylinder?
