Amazing stuff btw.
Since I was making the car lighter I bought a little compressor that has tire sealant in it so I could lose my spare. Next I removed a cd changer and xm radio that was in the drivers side bin that I had not listened to in years and during this process I was helping a friend with his miata and picked up his battery. It was so much lighter than mine....Epiphany!!! So I researched light batteries and found the braille at summit. I was a little torn over which one to get, as the smaller and lighter they get the less cranking amps they have. The one I got has the same CCAs as the one that came in rx7s from the factory (475 i think) , I figured I was safe with that. It spins my engine as fast as the 850 cold cranking amp battery I took out. In hindsight I might have been ok with the 15 pounder.
I dont know exactly how much lighter the car is but I can tell it is sitting higher in the rear, so the next thing on my list is adjusting the rear ReSpeed spring perches to get it back down where it needs to be.
Not much of a write up but how I ended up with it.

Err, where'd you get bins on an SA! I don't remember you having bins back there
when we met at B3R but maybe I missed those.
Hmmm, braille battery huh? I wonder ........
Been thinking about reinstalling the AC and putting a hogged out nikki on just for
fun. We'll see.
I hope I see some of you guys at DGRR (1st timer here) or the Mitty.

Got a mirror shine out of half of one of the BBS RS lips. Sadly they still have some pitting and scratches that didn't come out, so I'll be redoing that lip. I used it more for learning the process anyway, but boy do they look good all polished up. Sam has my SD card, once I get it pics will follow. Still agonizing over the color choice. Suggestions appreciated. Car is sunbeam silver, I'd rather not go with silver or black. Mikeric already did his in black, and silver looks good but I want something that stands out a bit more. Was thinking a shade of red, but something in the back of my mind keeps screaming at me that it wont look right. Considering satin titanium, maybe a dark metallic grey. Ideas?
Kentetsu, relocating the battery is easy. I had Sam make a mount out of 1 inch aluminum angle with tabs that fold over the crossmember, bolt that to the crossmember and use a flat piece of 1/4inch aluminum bar as a tie down. Two long bolts with hooked ends and wingnuts from Carquest. Maybe try O'Reilly's or Autozone there. Run new power to the starter, bolt the ground to the crossmember where the battery mount bolts to. Run another ground from the engine to the chassis and your all set. Don't do what I did and run the power through a hole in the bottom shifter boot. Just makes nasty smells come up into the cabin. If they weren't $30+ from Mazdatrix I'd have a new one by now and would have rerouted the cable. Soon enough though.

I've seen his wheels. That my friend, is A LOT of polishing. Plus enough of the car is silver, I want some color on the outside. I thought about painting them, then sanding and polishing just the faces of the spokes. I've seen pictures of that done and it looks pretty good. I'm waiting for the centers to be sandblasted so I've got time to make a choice.

That's what I was thinking, but something about it or what I'm picturing in my head isn't right. Sam at RE-Speed has some more powdercoat samples for me to look at, so I'll see if one catches my eye.

More Weber tuning commenced, and Ill be darned if it isnt very close to where it should be. Also relocated my fuel pump switch to where it isnt hanging down, and also did some other tidying up of the wiring.
Cant wait to get out to an event and see the fruits of my labor..

Went to the salvage yard and found an rx with 2 tokiko struts that were still like new. Also took the cruise control from the same vehicle, though I'm not sure how i can install it. Didn't realize the computer for it was in the back seat.

lol. I don't know if it was the unseasonably warm weather we were having or what, but I'm literally dying to hit the road and head south again. It's all I can think of, every freaking day! lol. I think I'm going crazy. I hope I can hold on long enough to actually make it there!

Soon as it warms up enough, you'll need to bring her over for a weekend Jim.
I didn't do anything to the car today, but I did attend my company's Holiday Party (yes, in February). And since my job pays for my habit (the 7), I guess that would kind of count.

Racing Beat stopped making those not too long ago.
Yesterday, I scrubbed out the lower part of the engine bay and repainted the area where the steering gear mounts. Then I degreased my transmission preparatory to stripping and polishing the bell housing & replacing the front seal and gasket, and I tore down my original steering gear to replace its lower seal and repaint it.
I learned only recently that gear oil will degrade regular silicone sealant, so I bought a tube of gear-oil safe sealant for use on the steering gear and the trans front cover and shift tower.
