(ENGINE) Water pump housing choke sensor thread size

I've been looking for an aftermarket water temp gauge with a sender to fit in the waterpump housing in place of the stock choke's water temp sensor. After searching throughout the forum, and coming up empty handed, I decided to go and have the thread pattern measured since i have the engine taken apart anyways.

The thread size is M16 x 1.5

I ordered a VDO temp gauge from egages.com that comes available with a sensor with that tread size.

I hopes this helps someone down the line

Anyone know the thread size of the Autometer sensor?

Thanks in advance.

Oh, FD Racer, thanks for finding out.

I'm pretty sure autometer electric guages come with a 1/8" NPT sender, and comes with adapters for 3/8" and 1/2", also NPT.

Thank You!

This should be in the god damn archives!

There are a billion probe install threads and (even in the archives) NOBODY clearly ever states the size. They just say "tap it out," "but this adapter kit," or "use the pump housing spot." They don't say what specific adapter is needed, so someone could just go to the hardware store and but it rather than order a kit of 5 extra adapters they don't need and have to wait for shipping!

I even work at a Mazda dealer and couldn't figure it out. Mazda is horrible about listing specifics like that...even in the workshop manual and parts fiche (I checked).
